Tips for Using the Speaking Lab

  • The Speaking Lab tool reacts differently to different kinds of voices.
  • Background noise affects the accuracy of the Speaking Lab tool. The SR engine is more
        likely to confuse similar-sounding words such as out and pout, or in and when. Try to use
        the Speaking Lab tool in a quiet room.

  • Check the sound level of the microphone.

  • Speak in a loud and clear voice.



  • How to Check the Microphone Sound Level
    1. Click the Start menu, and then click Control Panel.

    2. Double click Sounds and Audio Devices.



    3. Click the Voice tab.



    4. In the voice recording area, click Volume.



    5. Adjust the microphone volume to the highest level.

    6. Click Advanced.



    7. Select Microphone Boost.
